Hi, welcome to BarberellaHome. I’m Kim, I was born and raised in Sunny South Africa and left for California a couple of years after high school to pursue my degree in Advertising. I’ve lived in Southern California since, with my husband and 2 kids. I became a stay-at-home mom when my daughter was born and have never had the desire to go back to the corporate world. We are always doing something, if we’re not at home DIYing, we’re on the beach or on the hunt for new favorite spots around So-Cal. It’s truly one of the most beautiful places.
Although being a stay-at-home mom is a full-time job, I’ve always loved DIY projects and crafts. It’s something I do for me. From rescuing old furniture and bringing it back to life, to making crafts for birthday parties or room decor or for the holidays, to a little sewing. I love learning and teaching myself new things.
When we bought our first house I started doing affordable Home DIY renovation to make our house a home. That’s when a spark was lit! My favorite past time is scrolling on Pinterest or paging thru home magazines, looking at beautiful homes, and then finding a way to incorporate the styles and elements I loved so much into our home, affordably. There’s just something about accomplishing such looks, affordably and with great detail, that I have such passion for and I want to share it. That’s the purpose of BarberellaHome – I hoped to ignite that passion in my visitors. To help them make their homes as beautiful as they want them to be, even when aspiring to things a little out of reach, but finding a way to make it happen. Cos it is possible! I’m always learning along the way, teaching myself how to do things. I’m by no means a pro but I do have a keen eye for detail. My dad always says I see life in HD and I think it’s what helps me bring my plans to life.
So BarberellaHome is here for inspiration and information to help you make the home you wish to have possible, thru DIY tutorials, organizational tips, recipes, and day to day home stuff.
