Our guests were arriving in a week, and our guest bathroom needed a makeover. The guest bathroom is also my kids’ bathroom. So I wanted something simple, hardy, functional, and budget-friendly. Did we have enough time? I’m going to walk you thru the small updates we worked on that made a world of difference for a small space.
Beautiful San Onofre Bluffs Campground
San Onofre Bluffs Campground is one of the most amazing untouched parks/beaches you’ll go to in Southern California. No cell reception forces you to unplug while you’re there and allow you to truly take everything in. It actually felt good to be off the grid for awhile and focus on the family and not be distracted.
Recreating the Studio McGee Olive pot with what I had.
A few months back I ordered a Studio McGee Olive pot from Target, you can find it here. Unfortunately, they packaged it so badly when they shipped it, that it broke. I started the return process online with a few photos. Target refunded the purchase but requested I dispose of the product instead of bringing it back to the store. I couldn’t bring myself to throw away such pretty stems. I ended up keeping them and hoped I would find some use for them.
French Provincial nightstand makeover.
We have a family cabin in Lake Arrowhead and they have some amazing thrift stores around town. When we go up the mountain, I like to go hunting for treasures. When I saw this beautiful French Provincial Nightstand, I had to have it. The style had such charm and would be perfect for my daughter’s room update. It needed some TLC tho.
Butter Chicken Curry made in a Crockpot
Butter Chicken Curry is one of my favorite dishes. My husband, being born and raised in Durban South Africa, loves a good curry. There’s a large Indian community in Durban and you can find the most delicious authentic curry dishes there. So the bar for a good curry dish is pretty high.
Romantic staycation in Laguna Beach, CA.
There’s so many hidden gems in Laguna beach. My husband organized a staycation at the Pacific Edge Hotel for our Wedding Anniversary in November. How nice it was to get away for the few days just the two of us. The hotel is situated on the beachfront and the view is breathtaking. I could sit on the balcony all day and watch the waves.
Ikea HEMNES hack throwback.
There’s one thing I loathe more than anything about a project and that is sanding. Most often it’s hard to avoid, and you probably shouldn’t avoid it if you want the piece to have longevity. BUT, not with chalk paint!! Chalk paint is well known for the lack of prep work you need to do before painting. So naturally, I gravitated toward it.
Laundry Room Makeover.
Laundry has never been my favorite thing to do. I either keep putting it off until I have laundry up to my eyeballs. Or I put a load in and forget about it, only to find it the following day, in which I proceed to wash it all over again. However, I do equip everyone in the house with at least 2 weeks of underpants, so if life gets a lil crazy we have clean drawers. 😉
